Let’s see how to highlight cells in a column where the value changes in excel.
Suppose we have sorted data in a column and we want to highlight only the cells where the values are changing like shown below.
You could see the repetitive value in the columns are not highlighted but only the values which are changing from the above values are highlighted.
Step 1
Select the data from A2 to the last row.
Step 2
Got to New Rules under Conditional Formatting.
Step 3
Now in the conditional format window select the “Use a formula to determine which cells to format”
And enter the formula =A2<>A1 in the box and change the color to red from the Format option as shown below.
Step 4
We have the desired result as the cells are highlighted where the value is changing.
